Is it Spring yet??
February 9, 2026
Hello Friend!
Anyone who has ever lived in a northern state all winter can tell you that by February, you are so done with snow and cold. Way back in November when those first flakes start to fall it's kind of wonderful, giving you the perfect excuse to pull out all your favorite cozy sweaters and stock up on hot chocolate.
But after weeks and weeks of relentless cold, pulling out the shovel for the umpteenth time, and shivering in your car for those long minutes it takes for the engine to (finally) warm up, you're definitely ready for Spring.
And so here I am, at that point in the winter season when I'm dreaming of an hour in my garden. Just a little bit of warm sunshine. Anything but snow...and that's when one of my favorite houseplants always surprises me with the most beautiful blooms.
This is my lipstick plant (isn't that just the BEST name for a houseplant??).
This is the easiest plant to care for, all it needs is a sunny window and an occasional drink of water. And with just this tiny bit of love, every year in late January it blooms beautiful red flowers that last for weeks, somehow always managing to surprise me.
Just what I needed!
I hope you find a little bit of springtime encouragement this week. You might have to look for it - that big display of seed packets or the potted daffodils they start to stock at the grocery store.
I always know we're getting close when they run clearance sales on leftover mittens and winter hats, yay!
Just know that Spring is coming. And it will be wonderful!
