Let the list go...
February 2, 2026
Hello Friend!
So last week was very busy. And then it wasn't.
From Monday through Thursday I had much to do - long lists of important items that required lots of attention. I managed to get most of it done, but by the end of the week I was definitely worn out. And then on Friday morning Jon and I threw overnight bags, the cooler and the dog into the car and headed up north for a weekend of much needed rest.
But here's the thing. I realized all over again that when you're used to going full tilt all day, embracing a couple of days of rest can be a different kind of challenge. I woke up on Saturday morning to serene views of snow and the frozen lake, sunshine coming through the windows while I drank hot coffee from my cute bird mug...and then I made a list.
Yeah, I confess, I felt the overwhelming need to get a couple of teeny things done while I was at the lakehouse. Nothing particularly important or stressful, just re-organizing a closet and dusting some shelves, that kind of thing. And I did feel better being productive. But at some point I had a strong conversation with myself about actually embracing some down time.
So I took a nap. Read a book. Stared out the window.
It was wonderful.
My advice to you and to myself is to make time for doing nothing. It's so good for the soul, and it makes those busy days easier to face. Even if you just hide your list for an hour to do something restful, something you enjoy, you'll feel much better for it! Give it a try, practice a little, and find your peaceful place. I promise it will make you smile.
