Hello Friend!

I apologize if this week's entry is a little disorganized, but I traveled this past weekend and frankly I just haven't caught up. My flight came in very late because of a delay, and I wasn't in bed until the wee hours of the morning and my brain just isn't functioning that well (What's my name again?) Ha! Anyway, here are my thoughts for the day.

Traveling by plane is a wonderful, terrible thing. Obviously you can go from point A to point B in an amazingly short time, which is the wonderful part. For me, that means I can fly out on a Thursday afternoon from Michigan to Florida, spend a whole weekend enjoying quality time with those of my family who call Sarasota home, and be back for Monday morning. But the occasionally awful part is the process of actually making that happen.

For example, there's the drive to the airport, the parking, the shuttle in to the terminal, standing in lines to check bags and pass security, and finally finding your gate. At which point you can take a breath before jumping into yet another line to s-l-o-w-l-y board the plane itself and find your seat. The lack of speedy boarding is, of course, due to the folks in front of you lugging their ginormous carry on luggage on wobbly wheels and then having to find a vacant overhead slot to dead lift their heavy stuff up and in to. Fun.

And of course, anyone who has flown knows there's really no personal space on an airplane.

On the way home the flight was very full, running a whole hour late, I was so exhausted from a busy day and then yep, I found myself in a middle seat again. Sigh.

I quickly realized I'd been assigned a seat between an older married couple. I asked if they wanted to sit together, but no, he prefers the aisle and she the window seat.

So, for the next two and a half hours I helped them pass their stash of chips, bottled water and snacks back and forth between them, while they entertained me with stories of their Florida home, their Michigan home, their kids and what they do for a living, their grandkids, their hobbies and oh yeah, the date surgery is scheduled on her knee. And did you know he sings karaoke on a regular basis?? They were lovely but oh my, I was a tired girl by the time we bumped our way down the final runway.

I had a wonderful weekend, but it really is good to be home.
